The more industrial counterpart to beautiful Edinburgh, Glasgow is famous for Billy Connelly and an epic rivalry between the two football teams. You can bet that some of these most expensive houses in Glasgow belong to either Glasgow Rangers or Glasgow Celtic football players.
The most expensive areas of Glasgow are around Whitecraigs (especially along Burnside Road), Bothwell and Pollokshields. That said, if you’re a millionaire looking for some amazing property at relatively cheap prices, Glasgow is definitely an area that should be checked out. You can buy a bigger, better home in Glasgow for much less than in a town like Edinburgh or Manchester.
1. Millford, Burnside Road, Whitecraigs – £1,495,000
The most expensive house in Glasgow is £1,495,000. This beautiful, modern mansion is situated in the affluent Whitecraigs part of town. Comprising of 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, it covers over 6,900 square feet (a three bedroom house is about 1,200 square feet). The icing on the cake for this massive home has to be the home cinema in the basement along with the games room. Check out that amazing kitchen as well!

2. Lethington Road, Whitecraigs – £1,250,000
Now how about this imposing period home which has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The kitchen is fantastic, but might be a bit too much for my tastes – I prefer modern clean lines. What do you think? From the outside you might think this home will be a little old and dusty, but it’s actually very modern, bright and clean. Could you see yourself living here?

3. Countess Gate, Bothwell, Glasgow – £1,200,000
This expensive house in Glasgow is in the posh Bothwell area. It has a massive garden and the owners seem to be rather optimistic, placing a number of sun beds on the patio, even though they are in Glasgow ⛄ Sorry, that was a joke that I can make because I’m a Londoner. Check out the massive living room in this house, imagine the kind of entertaining you could do there! Oh, and look at the master bathroom – that’s bigger than my little flat in London, that is!

4. Old Mill Road, Bothwell – £1,200,000
The biggest house in Glasgow costs £1,200,000 and is a mansion in Bothwell which has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms which cover over 10,000 square feet of living space. What would I do to live in a house like this? The rooms seem to stretch on forever. There’s space for a home cinema, a home bar, a snooker/billiards table, and the icing on the cake: a flipping private indoor pool! Yes, this home has to belong to one of Glasgow’s football players.

5. Imperial Way, Bothwell, Glasgow – £1,1750,000
This 6 bedroom, 6 bathroom modern-day mansion has to have belonged to a Glasgow football player. It’s currently empty so they probably recently moved away – who could it be? There’s not much to say other than wouldn’t it be great to live here with rooms that just go on as far as the eye can see?

6. Westbourne Gardens, Hyndland, Glasgow – £995,000
If you’re looking for the most expensive house in Glasgow city centre then this townhouse in the Westbourne Gardens development is the one. Aside from the fact that you’re getting a property in one of the most exclusive addresses in Glasgow, you get a house with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Perhaps the best part though is that you get access to the private Westbourne gardens, it’s like having your own private park on your doorstep!

7. Crosshill Road, Lenzie – £995,000
This super-sized mansion has five bedrooms and four bathrooms that covers over 8,000 square feet of living space. The greatest feature of this house has to be the driveway and path leading up to the front door of the property along with the extensive grounds it sits in. If it belongs to a Glasgow football player, then he could install his own mini-football pitch in his back garden!

8. Lochview, Bardowie, Milngavie – £995,000
Now can you get any more Scottish than this extended cottage-mansion? It looks like a sweet old cottage on the outside, but inside it is bright, modern and incredibly welcoming. I’m loving it! I’m also loving that home office surrounded by floor to ceiling windows, it beats the hell out of my view from my London flat which overlooks a rather depressing residential street. I haven’t even mentioned the best bit yet: views across the loch (hence the name of this mansion: lochview) and private access to the shores of that loch. It’s like a Scottish dream home.

9. Victoria Crescent Road, Glasgow – £995,000
From loch views back to Glasgow city centre. This fashionable townhouse has four bedrooms and five bathrooms to make the most incredible city-living family home. You also get the cool back garden which has a brilliant outdoor eating area, perfect for entertaining family and friends on the three days a year when Glasgow gets good weather.

10. Balmory, Sherbrooke Avenue, Pollokshields, Glasgow – $975,000
What I love about this old period mansion is that it still has the butler and maid attention board. The gentleman or lady of the house could press a buzzer in whatever part of the house they were in and summon their servants to attend to them. Some people might fall in love with this old world charm, but if it were me I’d have to modernise it extensively before I could move in. For one thing, although it has six bedrooms, it only has two bathrooms. Imagine the morning traffic jam if a large family lived here!

Which most expensive house in Glasgow would you choose to live in?
I guess the first thing is: Do you want an expensive house in Glasgow city centre, in which case you’re looking at a period townhouse, or do you want a huge mansion in one of Glasgow’s suburbs?
Personally, I’d take a suburb house in Whitecraigs or Bothwell. What about you? Also, did you spot any footballer’s homes in this list of most expensive Glasgow houses?
